Welcome to Thames-Coromandel district

MEET THE LOCALS ADVERTISING FEATURE
My warmest welcome to our beautiful district.
Whether you’re new to our area or have proudly called this place home for many years, we’re truly pleased to welcome you.
There’s a big and exciting environment for you to explore – history, culture, scenery, adventure, fishing, outdoor pursuits – all on our doorstep.
Please take some time to make the most of one of New Zealand’s most sought after areas to live, work and play.
And to help you our Council has put together a digital tracks and trails guide. You can find it on our TCDC website, and additional information on the Destination Hauraki Coromandel website, www.thecoromandel.nz.
If you’ve been watching the news lately, you’ll know that the Government has advanced plans for local government reform that may result in a significant transformation of how local government is structured throughout the country.
But I can assure you that no matter what the outcome of government reform, the essential services that we all rely on – roading, water, removal of waste, parks and reserves, facilities, and regulatory functions – will carry on.
In the coming weeks and months, you’ll hear about opportunities to get involved in Council planning for the long term and the near term.

Our communities’ input is needed to make sure we continue to deliver the services and infrastructure we need, and to guide our decision-making over the coming months and years.
I encourage you to get involved in these planning activities if you can, so that your voice is heard. Life in Thames-Coromandel is about more than just breathtaking beaches and picturesque sunsets.
It’s found in the friendly nods at the supermarket, children riding their bikes to school, and the comforting smell of fish and chips on a Friday evening.
So, grab your jandals, keep an eye on the tides, and take full advantage of all that our stunning corner of New Zealand has to offer. And if you ever need assistance, don’t hesitate to reach out – locals are always happy to lend a helping hand.
If you have any questions or concerns about Council services or facilities, please contact us. Visit our website at www.tcdc.govt.nz, follow us on Facebook, or call 07 868 0200—we’d love to hear from you.
Ngā mihi, Mayor Peter Revell
