One final roar

Hauraki supporters cheered from the sidelines at Davies Park in Huntly for the Waikato Rugby League 2026 Senior A Grand Final on August 8. That’s when the Hauraki Tigers faced the Tahaaroa Steelers for their last game of the season, with the Steelers taking the win with a score of 36-26. “It wasn’t our day today, but making it to the Grand Final is an achievement our boys should be proud of,” the Hauraki Tigers said. “To every Tigers supporter who filled the sidelines, made the noise, wore the black and gold and backed our boys right until the final whistle – thank you. The support our team has received throughout this season has been incredible, and today showed just how strong the Tigers whānau really is. Win or lose, we stand together.” Reporter DAVIDDA HIKATANGATA witnessed the final clash.
