Tamariki to showcase waiata, haka at free concert

For the third year in a row, students from Te Kura o Te Kauaeranga Thames South School will perform for the June 2026 Free Friday Lunchtime Concert.
Hosted by the Thames Music Group, the tamariki will showcase waiata and haka for the community on June 26 at St George’s Church in Thames.
“Our rōpū Kapahaka has been active for over 30 years. Our current students are mostly mokopuna and tamariki of the original group,” the kura said.
“Waiata and haka have been used continuously throughout our kura to celebrate the identity of our tamariki, their whānau and mana whenua.
“Our tamariki range from 6- to 12-years-old. Some will be taking the stage for the first time while others have been enthusiastic and committed performers of our rōpū for many seasons,” they said.
“Our tutors are drawn from our staff and kura whānau.
“Our performance includes both local and original waiata, with a mixture of poi, haka and solo items.”
People are invited to support the tamariki and enjoy the free performance.
