THE FINAL FAREWELL ADVERTISING FEATURE
The new Thames Future Fund provides locals and visitors with the opportunity to donate or bequest to a locally driven funding vehicle for the town and its surrounds.
It is one of six Coromandel ‘place based’ endowment funds established last year by Momentum Waikato Community Foundation, in partnership with Thames-Coromandel District Council and forward-thinking local Fund Champions.
April Chang, who works at Carsons Bookshop, is the first Thames Future Fund Champion.
“In these days of so many challenges, the Thames Future Fund just makes good sense to me,” April says.
“That’s why I’m pleased to help spread the word so people understand how it works, and that their contribution, no matter the size, can really make an impact.
“Thames has a proud history and a strong community, but we all have to think about the future.
“Our own endowment fund that brings returns back into the community is such a seamless way to build a lasting legacy and support the causes we value.”
When the Thames Future Fund reaches sufficient size, grants will be made from its income, with a portion re-invested to keep it growing.
“Being under the Momentum Waikato umbrella gives the assurance of professionalism while ensuring the Thames Future Fund will always be exactly that – all about Thames,” April says.
Wills Month is coming up in September, a great time to find out more about why you should leave a gift in your Will to the Thames Future Fund – please contact April at aprilgreenlawchang@gmail.com or visit momentumwaikato.nz/thamesfuturefund.
