Horsing around

Riders, horses and supporters galloped into Thames Pony Club on March 13 for the Thames Valley Secondary Schools Show Jumping Competition.
Ten teams entered the competition from Hauraki Plains College, Paeroa College, Thames High School, Waihī College, Katikati College, Rototuna High School, Te Kura and Mercury Bay High School.
The Hauraki Plains Gold team was named champion on the day taking out first place, followed by Thames High School.
Pony Club president Katherine Forsyth said it was a fantastic day and all riders represented their schools with pride and good sportsmanship.
“We had a record number of entries and we enjoyed welcoming those schools who travelled some distance to join us,” she said.
“Thank you to our hard working committee, our judges and stewards, and everyone else who chipped in to help – there’s so much to do on days like these – so a big thank you, the day ran very smoothly.”
