Culture and environment priorities at Central Kids Paeroa

ADVERTORIAL
Central Kids Paeroa Kindergarten has been providing early childhood education in our community for over 50 years, and is proud to have built strong relationships with many generations of whānau.
The fully qualified teaching team is passionate about supporting tamariki to learn through play – by doing, asking questions, interacting with others, problem solving, and the purposeful use of quality resources within a safe, fun and stimulating environment. Older tamariki enjoy regular visits to the ngahere (bush), which allows them to explore the wonders of nature, make new discoveries, develop their physical skills, exercise their imagination and connect with Papatūānuku (Mother Earth).
Kindergarten kaiwhakaako (head teacher) Rachel McElroy says ngahere visits are a special part of the curriculum at Paeroa Kindergarten.
“Being outside in nature, with space and opportunity to explore, makes our tamariki so happy. It gives them so many opportunities to learn about the world around us, and builds the foundation for them to become future kaitiaki of our environment.”
The kindergarten’s inclusive learning environment welcomes whānau to be part of their child’s learning journey, with plenty of opportunities to get involved.

Interacting with whānau, friends, community groups and services gives tamariki a strong sense of identity within our local community, and prepares them well for the transition to kura (school).
Te ao Māori is woven throughout the curriculum of all Central Kids kindergartens, with te reo Māori me ona tikanga (Māori language and protocols) embraced and thriving.
Rachel says the kindergarten values the language, culture and identity of all tamariki, and actively promotes the use of te reo Māori. “One of our goals is for our tamariki to be confident in te reo Māori to ensure the language thrives. We learn local waiata and use te reo Māori in everything we do.”
Paeroa Kindergarten is a special place that supports tamariki to grow to their full potential. Central Kids believes quality education should be something that all tamariki can experience, and provides flexible financial and accessibility options to ensure no tamariki miss out. The door is always open, you are welcome to pop in for a visit any time.
