Weather clears; new slips on SH25

Two large slips have appeared on State Highway 25 overnight, according to the Thames Coromandel District Council.

The highway is closed between Coromandel and Whitianga until further notice.

The stormy night has also caused smaller slips across the roading network. Road crews are out this morning and several areas are reduced to single lanes as clean up begins.

There are also reports of a slip blocking the road between Kūaotunu and Whitianga which is blocking the road.

TCDC is asking motorists to take care, plan for delays, and be kind to workers on the road.

The MetService has also lifted its heavy rain warning for the Coromandel Peninsula.
