ADVERTORIAL
It’s been a thrilling couple of months for Paeroa business The Shed & Co.
Easily recognised as the big shed on the outskirts of town on Coronation St.
The Shed & Co is overflowing with goods for vintage lovers, renovators, indoor and outdoor connoisseurs and those who enjoy “a little bit of everything”.
Afterall, it’s been known to have the most diverse range of all sorts under one roof, dare we say in New Zealand?
That was the case until recently. Now The Shed & Co has expanded into the Paeroa township and includes a couple of new town locations in the old Regent theatre building, new faces have joined the team, new signs are on their way, a bit of paint has brightened the old Junk & Disorderly shop up.
Owner Sam Annison and manager Connie Riddle said the mission now for 58 Coronation St is to continue to provide products fit for most home DIY projectors, the one-off old bits you may not find in the larger hardware stores.
Tools, screws, timber – posts, fence palings, decking, plumbing, gardening, clear lite, corrugated iron. It’s the place for people to remember things of the past.
“We get wanderers. We get reminiscers. Sometimes we feel it’s on the tour list as a must see to believe.”
Coronation St will also act as a warehouse for staff to sort through products to share out across all the stores, which is a big part of the job.
The team, alongside Sam and Connie, also includes Sandy, Nicole, Sarndra, Sue and Stu.
Meanwhile, across town at 80-84 Normandy Rd, The Shed & Co’s retail stores are now up and running, carefully curated with more refined collections for styling the home right in the centre of Paeroa.
“A lot of the nice things used to get lost in the mix at The Shed on Coro, now Nicole stages the shops beautifully. People couldn’t picture it in their homes. But when you see it set out nicely, it makes a difference. When you put it in the right place, it pops.”
Known to the team as shop 2 on the main street and to the left down the breezeway once known as Junk & Disorderly, as you walk down the slope, light pours in from the windows at the back of the room. The high ceiling and walls are a feature to see, you will see the familiarity of Sam’s wooden boxes lining the left-hand side filled with an assortment of trinkets, cameras, pottery, frames, toys and candelabras, as you move around.
Sam’s wooden shelving continues, housing the library books, silver, china, haberdashery, vinyls, DVDs and CDs, mirrors, lamps, model ships, artist prints just waiting to be discovered. Sam’s clock collection on display. Second-hand goods are the future in this ever-increasing financial time.
We are often asked where we get everything – people – downsizing or sick of the clutter. Humans – all buy, all use it, all discard it – then Sam buys it, sells it on to be repurposed or be re loved – big or small. Sometimes it’s barely used, we try to keep everything at a fair and reasonable price.
Whether people are looking to find something to decorate the home, a gift for a loved one, or the missing piece for a home project – there’s a wonderland full of treasure and everything you need at The Shed & Co’s shops. Make it your day out and enjoy the Paeroa Shops and Cafés.
