It was an afternoon of celebration and appreciation at the Ohinemuri Rest Home on November 19.
That’s because two “very delightful” staff members received certificates of appreciation.
The significant occasion included Hauraki District Mayor Toby Adams, who was there to present the awards to Sharryn Godwin and Ann Utting before a room of friends, staff and residents of the rest home.
Organiser Annette Buchanan said the two ladies went over and above in their normal duties at the rest home.
“Sharryn has become a confidential surrogate family to many residents over many, many years. She is very able to communicate and sort many issues that residents are experiencing” she said.
Sharryn was always aware of “making the home a cheerful place”, worked over and above her normal hours and often said “we’re all ok aren’t we? We’re a box of fluffy ducks”, Annette said.
Meanwhile, Ann always observed and understood the real needs of the residents, Annette said.
“She is a natural caring person with great sensitivity. She is a real inspiration to us all.”
These two ladies have done an exceptional job of looking after our Older Paeroa Residences at Ohinemuri Home for many many years, she said.
