People chatted, snacked, connected and observed the handmade creations at the Thames Art Gallery on August 29. It was the opening of the Members Art Exhibition, which is on show at the Gallery for the month of September from 10am to 4pm daily.
Thames Society of Arts president Lisa Stent told The Profile she felt “incredibly proud” when she walked into the gallery.
“The quality of the curation and the calibre of our members’ work created something truly special. Our members range from emerging artists to highly accomplished makers, and seeing everyone’s work exhibited together celebrates the strength of our creative community.”
She said the feedback from visitors was overwhelming.
“People were genuinely surprised by the diversity and standard of work on display.”
The exhibition “exceeded our expectations”, she said, not only in attendance but in sales as well.
“It’s wonderful to see local artists being supported so enthusiastically. The exhibition was made possible entirely through the efforts of volunteers, from months of preparation to curation, installation, welcoming visitors and hosting the opening.”
