Nearly 200 revellers gathered at the Thames Civic Centre on September 12 for Bogan Bingo.
The annual fundraising event was put on by the charity Thames Coast Kiwi Care (TCKC) to support their work protecting kiwi and restoring their natural habitat.
The night included three rounds of bingo, both a silent and a live auction, games, raffles, and supper – all in themed costume of course, with prizes for those who best embodied the classic Bogan theme.
TCKC chair Moira Cotesworth said she was thrilled at the turnout, and seeing the bogans “really rocking it” for a third year in a row.
“We are just really rapt at the growing support for protecting Kiwi and all the other taonga species, particularly the generosity of both businesses and individuals in a tough year.”
Moira said the event raised around $17,000 after expenses.
“It’s a really substantial contribution to our budget.”
