Fundraising auction for roof repairs

Things are literally looking up at Paeroa Little Theatre.
It’s all eyes on the theatre’s roof as the committee aims to raise around $15,000 to repair the part that sits over the staging side of the theatre.
Committee member Kerry Single said the work included some of the flashing, boards and “a bit of paint work” as well.
Theatre director Sara Single told The Profile the roof was obviously deteriorating but they wanted to get it repaired or replaced before it started to leak on to the stage and new lighting.
That’s where the community comes into it.
On July 17, the Paeroa Little Theatre will host its Roof Repair Fundraising Auction, where people will have the opportunity to bid on an assortment of “mostly new” items from sheepskin coats, handbags and fabric, to three-tier sauce pan stands, plants, furniture handles, ornaments and even pottery.
There’s also a selection of scarves, stationery, craft items, fabric tapestries, beads, jewellery, shoes and more.
It’s the place where people can find “something for everyone”, Sara said.

The community is invited to view the items up for auction from 2pm, followed by the auction which kicks off at 6pm.
While Eftpos will not be available, the director said people could take along cash or pay via bank transfer.
Even though they weren’t taking on any more items for the auction, people in the community reached out to Sara with more pieces to donate.
“Let me see how this one goes, if it’s successful then we’ll have a look at something else,” she said.
The kitchen was also in need of some work too, and Sara said it could do with a coat of paint to begin with, but at this stage – the roof was the more pressing issue.
“She’s a good building, she just needs some love and attention.”
