‘Fresh vision’ for Paeroa Country Music Club

June 21 is the date country music lovers across the Hauraki-Coromandel should circle on their calendars.
That’s when the newly returned Paeroa Country Music Club will kick off its opening event for 2026 with a hiss and a roar.
Guest artist Michelle Lightband (nee Greaves) is set to provide an afternoon of musical entertainment with support from the Paeroa Country Music Club house band.
Promotions and entertainment officer Carolyn Parker said the Greaves’ family were well-known for their country music across New Zealand and the United States. “The Greaves family have been around for a long time. There’s 14 of them and the whole lot of them sing so it’s a big country music family.”
The club, which is under new leadership and a new committee, had been revitalised with a “fresh vision” to provide a welcoming platform for musicians, singers and songwriters of all ages, Carolyn said.

As a singer-songwriter herself, Carolyn said the idea was to bring live music, friendship and community spirit that builds connection and supports artists together. “It will be a space to connect, perform, learn and be inspired.”
Current club membership sits at around 30 people, and people are invited to join.
Club days will be on the third Sunday of each month and hosted at the Paeroa Baptist Church.
“Whether you sing, play an instrument, write songs or simply listen to music, there is a place for you at the Paeroa Country Music Club,” she said.
“Come along [and] meet fellow music lovers and help us write the next chapter in the Paeroa Community.”
