VOLUNTEER WEEK ADVERTISING FEATURE
This National Volunteer Week, Thames SPCA is proud to recognise and celebrate the dedicated volunteers who help make a difference for animals in our community.
From animal care, events and fundraising, to offering a warm safe space in their home for foster animals, volunteers are essential to Thames daily operations.
“Our volunteers are quite simply the backbone of Thames SPCA,” Centre Manager Brent Thomas said.
“Without them, we couldn’t provide the level of care and support that our animals receive every day.”
Volunteer Week is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate those who already support us and to welcome new faces to our Thames SPCA family. To help celebrate, they are inviting keen local bakers to donate some sweet treats to welcome volunteers to their shifts throughout the week.
Thames SPCA is still in need of more volunteers to help support the volume of work that they do daily, especially for their canine areas, and pups like Tiger, pictured with volunteers Alana and Charlize.
There has never been a better time to get involved. “I like giving animals attention and always laughing with the staff”, SPCA volunteer Charlize said.
“There is a whole bunch of cute animals, it’s really, really fun and a great team environment”, SPCA Volunteer Alana said.
Our group of just under 30 centre volunteers range from 16 years old, through to well past retirement age, with each person bringing their own unique skills, experience and personality. There is always plenty to do – so if you have ever thought about volunteering, this is your sign!
