Days of rain made the ground at the Ohinemuri cluster cross country extra boggy and slippery, but students weren’t fazed by the challenge.
The cross country event, for 8-12 year olds, began at 12.30 on August 20. Primary school students from Paeroa and nearby rural schools tackled the course, which ranged up and down the hills of a farm in Hikutaia. No one came away untouched by the mud, and many kids embraced the muck as they stampeded, slipped, or simply dived through a particularly wet corner of the track.
