Prolific pumpkins

Turua School held its annual Giant Pumpkin Festival on March 23. Despite persistent rain, plenty of people plodded along to peruse the giant pumpkins, partake in pumpkin goodies and participate in the plethora of pastimes. The school hall was packed as the popular quick-fire raffle was moved indoors, among rows of pumpkin-themed artworks on display.

The main weigh-in resulted in a win for Karen Hedley, whose pumpkin measured a massive 157kg. ALICE PARMINTER popped in to marvel at the giant gourds.
