Driving Creek art exhibition set to flow

Sea and shore artworks will be on display at Driving Creek Gallery in Coromandel Town from December 31 to January 15.

The exhibition is a collaboration of Kuaotunu photographer Ian Preece, Tairua artist Christina McGrath, and Whitianga painter Marianne Moyes.

Ian said he chose sea and shore as the theme because they both linked together.

“It’s about the light and the motion of water, and the motion of clouds, which is really quite an emotional thing,” he said.

“You’re at the sea, there are very few people who aren’t motivated by being by the ocean and hopefully people see something that they’ve been inspired by.

“I like to exhibit at Driving Creek Gallery, it’s a purpose-built gallery and I think it’s one of the best galleries to do your own exhibition in the Coromandel.”

Ian said the exhibition would be open from 10am to 6pm each day and a public opening evening would take place on December 30 from 4pm to 6pm.
