Pups on patrol

The Pup Patrol showed off their canine tricks at Waihī East Primary School recently, and also dressed up in their Christmas best to share festive joy and lollipops with children down Waihī’s main street.
The children and staff of Waihī East Primary School were treated to a slight ‘paws’ in the school timetable on December 15. That’s when Pup Patrol rolled into the school in their karts and skateboards to put on a show.
Organiser of the school visit and dog trainer Rhonda Walch said she was so pleased with all the dogs.
They performed tricks for the students and welcomed attention and pats. Her team was made up of humans Yvonne and Bob Dinnage and Heather Price, and puppy pals Trevor, Chelsey, Dee, Bonnie and Bailey.
“It’s all voluntary and it’s good fun,” she told The Profile.
The group also got dressed up in a Christmas theme last week and walked around Waihī’s main street and handed out lollipops to children, she said.
It was clear the reason behind it all was to share the joy. “[It’s] just the smiles. That’s all you want.”
Rhonda said Heather was keen to take the show to more schools and kindergartens so the group jumped on board to help make it happen.
