Blue skies, vibes

Students, teachers and whānau gathered at Goldfields School Paeroa on November 14 for a morning of fun and celebration at the Blue Skies ‘25 event. Goldfields School teacher Matua Caleb told The Profile it was a day to dress in blue and to celebrate the school value of the term – manaakitanga, to celebrate the countdown to summer and also raise money for Starship hospital. The school raised $46.50 for Starship. There were beach balls, bubbles, free ice cream and sausage sizzle for all to enjoy. Paeroa musician and director of Rapid Rockstar Music Academy Kristian Bennett played some music, which got all the tamariki, kaiako and whānau up on their feet to dance, Matua Caleb said. “The idea for today was to have the school feel like a backyard beach barbie.”
