Cultural and arts honours

Hauraki Plains College hosted students, staff and whānau for the Cultural and Arts Prizegiving on October 15.
Hauraki year-12 student Bridgette Marshall, who received the Rhodes Green Trophy for her Contribution to The Arts, told The Profile it was important to be part of and celebrate culture and arts because “they bring people together” and offered a way for people to express themselves.
“I’m truly so so grateful to have received this award.”
It was a way to celebrate and recognise how much she had given to the arts over the past four years through her involvement in music and drama, HPC Jazz band, choir and her band More or Less, she said.
“I’ve become a stronger and more confident person through my performances at HPC, and I wish that for every student involved in the arts.”
The Prizegiving evening included musical performances by the HPC Jazz Band, The Interns and the Kapahaka group, and also celebrated students’ achievements through Showquest, Showquest Toi Dance, drama and kapa haka.
Bridgette said she offered a huge congratulations to all other award winners on the night.
