Paeroa Contemporary Dance is set to deliver a “high-energy” fundraising performance to help ensure the show goes on – both on-stage and behind the scenes.
The show, called Con-Artists, will feature around 20 dancers. One of them, Myana Johnson, said the June 14 performance would be “dynamic”.
“It’s been an incredible journey watching the dancers grow throughout the process, and the highlight would probably be watching all the different personalities and passions on the stage.”
Myana said she’s been attending Paeroa Contemporary Dance – whose artistic director is Helene Burgstaller – for 10 years.
She said classes take place throughout the week, with around 30-40 children and adults taking part.
“If you love dance, and even supporting young talent, totally join these classes, it’s an awesome social hit,” she said. “We do all sorts – from making shows to filming dance videos… We have been working really hard for this show overall since February.
“We did a show last year around the same time and that was an absolute hit.”
Con-Artists doubles as a fundraising evening, with money raised being put towards keeping classes running and the troupe’s annual end of year show.
“The audience can definitely expect a high-energy, dynamic performance,” Myana said. “I reckon it’s going to be such a great night. There will also be an intermission where you can treat yourselves to some baked goods.”
